Coventry Half Marathon and Coventry City Council representatives

Run For All is thrilled to announce a partnership with Coventry City Council and supported by Coventry University Students’ Union to organise the return of Coventry's Half Marathon.

The Half Marathon will take place on Sunday 29 October 2023 with the event returning to run on the much-loved city’s previous Half Marathon route, starting in the heart of the city centre on Gosford Street and finishing outside the steps of the stunning gothic Coventry Cathedral.

With community and charity at its core, Run For All will work closely with key strategic partner Coventry City Council and receive support from Coventry University Students’ Union to increase both community and charity engagement and work to remove barriers to participation.

It is hoped thousands will return to the streets and enjoy the scenic city centre and countryside route, including Allesley Park Fairy Village, Coventry Peace Orchard, the White Arch and the stunning Coventry Cathedral.

Regardless of their reason for taking part, runners of all abilities including those with disabilities and any other special considerations are encouraged to sign up. Whether that be to fundraise for a charity close to their heart, to chase a PB or own personal challenge.

Cllr Abdul Salam Khan, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Events, Coventry City Council, said: "We're really excited to be working with Run For All on the organisation of the Coventry Half Marathon this year. It is great to have this event back in our calendar and welcome the runners to the city again.

"I hope to see thousands of people enjoy this event and it's brilliant that we can give residents and visitors to Coventry the opportunity to enjoy physical activity while seeing so much of our city and its fantastic history at the same time."

Jason Fox, Head of Commercial Development at Coventry University Students’ Union said: “Having been involved with the Coventry Half Marathon for a number of years, we are excited to support Run For All in delivering a fantastic event for the city in 2023.

“The Coventry Half Marathon is a huge opportunity for all involved, especially local charities, and we’re looking forward to seeing thousands of people coming together to achieve something great.”

Run For All is a not-for-profit company that is part of the lasting legacy of the late amateur athlete and fundraiser Jane Tomlinson CBE. Jane, from Leeds, made headlines around the world by taking part in a series of incredible endurance events - despite being diagnosed with an incurable cancer.

Providing a fundraising vehicle for charities is the primary objective of every Run For All race, ensuring that the money being raised by the event stays local and supports the causes that need them most.

Any charities interested in becoming an Official Charity Partner – whether involved with the previous Half Marathon or not – are encouraged to contact Run For All as soon as possible.

It’s an honour to be part of this incredible community event. When Jane and I set up Run For All in 2007 our aim was always to create events that removed barriers to participation and that embraced the communities across the town or city,” said Jane’s husband Mike, Chief Executive of Run For All.

“Working with Coventry City Council and Coventry University, we hope to highlight the incredible communities at the heart of this city, inspire people to take part regardless of age or ability and join us for day of celebration.”

Run For All also seeks to work closely with local businesses across the region and is encouraging any organisations interested in partnering with the event to get in touch with Run For All.

Entries are now open for this October’s Half Marathon. Head to the Run for All page for more information and to sign up.
