Hotel Indigo will soon open its doors in the city and Coventry Job Shop is ready to help local people find work opportunities at the boutique hotel.

Developers Bowmer and Kirkland have broken ground on the £20million project to bring this great new addition to the city.

Hotel Indigo is set to open soon, creating 42 full-time jobs and 21 part-time roles managed by Castlebridge Hospitality. Coventry Job Shop is doing a speed interview recruitment drive to help local people find new work opportunities. Roles will be available in food and beverage, kitchen, housekeeping and front of house.

Job Shop staff are arranging 15-minute pre-interview sessions for potential candidate’s during October.

Michael Lyons, General Manager at Hotel Indigo said: “We have been working with the Job Shop since August. We attended the one-day Jobs Fair in September which was an ideal opportunity for the Hotel Management team to promote all our new vacancies with the Job Shop team and the local job hunters.

“We are delighted to be working in conjunction with the Job Shop so that we can recruit local Coventry people to work with us in our beautiful new hotel and bring our Neighbourhood story to life”.

The hotel will open near Coventry railway station, which is just a short walk from the city’s many cultural attractions. The hotel is part of a wider Friargate regeneration project that is set to transform this area of the city into a bustling hub of activity.

Councillor Jim O’Boyle, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Regeneration and Climate Change said: “As well as creating new jobs for local people, this project will attract a new wave of tourists to the city to experience all our city has to offer, and we are proud to be part of that.

“We have always said another high quality, unique hotel was needed in the city centre to support our ambitions to grow tourism and help drive the city’s regeneration and now here we are, close to opening.

“The location is ideal too – right next to the railway station which has had £82 million of investment to improve it as a gateway to the city and a short walk from the city centre”.

Hotel Indigo in Coventry will reflect the unique ethos of Hotel Indigo by creating an immersive hospitality experience that draws on the history, rhythm, and pulse of Coventry’s vibrant city, for both leisure and business guests.

As well as 100 bedrooms on offer, the hotel will have a gym and a restaurant and bar which will be open to hotel guests and the public.

Councillor Dr Kindy Sandhu, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills said: “Congratulations to everyone involved for all their hard work in bringing this project to life. I am really pleased that again, our Job Shop is working with a local employer, in this case, Hotel Indigo to help local people find local work opportunities at what is going to be a fantastic new addition to our city.

“I look forward to seeing Hotel Indigo open and I wish any of our local residents applying for a job there the best of luck.”

Keep up to date on the progression hotel.
