Coventry City Council colleagues who helped create and share an award-winning fostering film have been celebrating after receiving their award.

The film ‘Any of Us’ was recently named as a winner in two categories at the comms2point0 UnAwards, which recognise excellence in public sector communications and were held in Birmingham.

The awards were to a partnership of several local authorities working together for Best Collaboration and Best Creative Comms, and this week colleagues were able to get their hands on the awards as they arrived in Coventry.

The project saw more than 80 council fostering teams from across the UK come together to produce the film and share production, administration and launch costs.

The powerful film spreads the message that “any of us can foster a child or young person, if we have the capacity to care.”

It looks at three very different people who all show some of the attributes needed to be a foster carer– individuals in very different scenarios, but each in their own way showing the caring instinct that is fundamental to being a foster carer.

It is the fifth film to be produced by a growing partnership of councils and children’s trusts to promote local authority fostering and is available to view on YouTube.

Cllr Pat Seaman, Coventry City Council’s Cabinet Member, Children and Young People, said: “The fact that over 80 council fostering teams worked together to produce a film that communicates a universal message of ‘we all need more people to step forward and become foster carers’ is really powerful.

“The key message remains the same, please consider if you can offer a home to our most vulnerable children and young people to really make that big difference to their lives. If you haven’t seen it yet, please take a few minutes to take a look – it really could be any of us.”

The film was produced by ReelTwentyFive and project managed by agency CAN Digital and fostering consultant Rachel Brown.

John Cooper, Fostering Recruitment Specialist, from CAN Digital Solutions, added: "Congratulations to Coventry City Council, not only for winning the awards for 'Any Of Us', but for originating the concept of a jointly-funded fostering recruitment film in the first place. The project has been truly pioneering, growing year on year with each new film to become a truly national campaign. This wouldn't have happened without the proactive approach from collaborative working by Coventry City Council."
