The Job Shop and award-winning housebuilder The Hill Group are hosting an Apprenticeship and Careers event on Wednesday, 7 February for the City Centre South Project.
The event will give Coventry residents the opportunity to put themselves forward for a degree-level apprenticeship to train as construction managers or quantity surveyors. Applicants will need to be working towards A-levels or BTEC qualifications this year or have completed these qualifications within the past couple of years.*
This represents a fantastic opportunity for anyone seeking a well-paid and sustainable construction role. Residents can also attend to find out more about the City Centre South project and the types of roles that will soon be available in areas such as demolition, groundworks, traffic marshalling, and security.
Urban regeneration specialist Hill and development partner, Shearer Property Group, are delivering the visionary £450 million mixed-use development, with an emphasis on green space and including the redevelopment of Bull Yard, Shelton Square, Market Way, and City Arcade. It will provide a significant number of high-quality new homes, jobs, and over 8,000 square metres of new commercial space.
Councillor Jim O’Boyle, Cabinet Member Jobs, Regeneration, and Climate Change said: “Private sector investment in City Centre South will transform a large area of the city centre, providing new homes and commercial space as well as creating job and apprenticeship opportunities for local people.
“It is great to see The Hill Group’s commitment to employing local residents and that they have partnered with the Job Shop to do this. And this is just the start – there will be plenty more opportunities as work gets underway.”
Councillor Dr Kindy Sandhu, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills at Coventry City Council said: “This represents a fantastic opportunity for Coventry residents to get into the construction industry, gaining valuable skills whilst earning as they learn and developing their careers.”
Andy Fancy, Managing Director at The Hill Group said: “At Hill, we have an unwavering passion for making a meaningful impact on the communities in which we work. As we embark on this landmark development in Coventry, we are committed to fostering social value through various initiatives.
“As part of this effort, we are keen to create valuable career pathways for local residents. I would encourage anyone who has an interest in buildings and construction to come and visit us to talk about apprenticeship opportunities and the positive impact they can have on professional development.”
* Entry requirements are based on UCAS points and will generally be around 115 points.
