- 'Connect to Coventry' walk around Cathedral Quarter starting at the Go CV gazebo (starting at 1.45pm)
- Circuit workout for toddlers and parents
- Seated exercise class
- Handball session
- Boxing pads session
- Pick up and play
Councillor Kamran Caan, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Sport, said:
“We know how important movement is to our physical health but we often forget how important it can be to our mental health too.
“Moving more boosts your emotional wellbeing, so I’m really proud that there are so many local sporting groups coming along to give people the opportunity to try something new, as well as so many stalls available for people to find out more about support, in partnership with the Mental Health Foundation and Sport England.”
Mental Health Awareness Week is an annual campaign hosted by the Mental Health Foundation to promote good mental health. This year the charity is focused on encouraging people to move more for their mental health and find #MomentsForMovement in their daily lives.
Alexa Knight, Director of England at Mental Health Foundation said:
“Everyone can get the mental health benefits of moving more. This Mental Health Awareness Week we want to help people, particularly people who face more challenges in accessing physical activity, to find moments for movement in their daily lives that work for them. Going for a walk in your neighbourhood, putting on your favourite music and dancing around the living room, chair exercises when you’re watching television – it all counts! If it’s something you enjoy, all the better.
“We are so grateful to Coventry City Council and Sport England for partnering with us on this event and helping people to find #MomentsForMovement. It’s going to be a great day!”
