Last year, colleagues in Children Services launched their pioneering Safe Spaces project in the city centre.
Working collaboratively with a large number of partners, the Team was able to establish 35 safe spaces throughout the city. Venues include Family Hubs, libraries, CV life venues, McDonalds, Coventry University, and youth organisations.
Each of these spaces is equipped with amenities like power banks, chargers, first aid kits, and informational leaflets. Staff at the venues have also had specialist training provided by Children’s Services and West Midlands Police to ensure they can support young people.

Residents, both young and old, regularly highlight to the Council the importance of ensuring that our city is safe, secure and welcoming to our young people. This project is one way in which the Council is responding to these concerns and ensuring that our city provides support to young people.
A map of the Safe Spaces is available on the Child Friendly Cov website.
