Coventry City Council, together with its partners, is supporting the White Ribbon We Speak Up campaign this 25th November.
A short video has been produced to call on men and boys to reflect on their behaviour and to challenge others when they witness harmful attitudes or actions.
The campaign centres on allyship, encouraging men to take action every day to confront misogyny and sexism in the behaviours they see, in systems, and in the media. This commitment helps to create a more equal and safer society where women and girls can live free from the fear of violence.
The message is clear: we need everyone to be part of building a society where understanding and respect underpin all relationships and interactions, so that all members of the community can thrive.
Alongside this, the campaign highlights the support available for those who want to change their behaviour through the Make a Change Programme, delivered by Relationships Coventry & Warwickshire. Make a Change provides help at the earliest possible point for people seeking to address harmful behaviour, and works in partnership with Coventry Haven Women’s Aid and Panahghar.
Support is also available to victims from local organisations such as Coventry Haven Women’s Aid, Panahghar, Valley House, and through the Coventry City Council’s Safe to Talk website. Anyone suffering from domestic abuse, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, so-called ‘honour-based’ violence or sexual violence, or anyone who knows someone affected, should reach out to the following helplines:
