Families across Coventry are being given help and support at the time they need it most through a pioneering new Council scheme.
Coventry Funeral Service was launched last year as an alternative service provider for Coventry residents.
It aims to help more people cope with the costs of funerals and ceremonies for loved ones and ease some of the stress and anguish at such a difficult time.
With many facing financial hardship and the rising costs of funerals, the service has already helped many people across the city who would otherwise have struggled to say a fitting goodbye to family members.
The skilled staff are there to offer all the advice and guidance needed when arranging a traditional funeral or direct cremation, including practical help with Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) processes.
The service offers:
- Fully inclusive funeral packages with clear pricing, no hidden costs and options suitable for DWP funeral support
- An experienced, compassionate team with many years of experience in caring for bereaved families within the local community, who can guide people through funeral arrangements and DWP paperwork
- Traditional values, dignity and care at every step.
Tributes to the new service from grateful families have included:
- “Heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support and guidance throughout this process.”
- “Exceptional respect, compassion and empathy. The service was welcoming, professional and helped celebrate our dad’s life. Highly recommended.”
- “Thank you for everything you have done, and all the support shown during a very sad time.”
- “Excellent and professional manner; invaluable support during a difficult time.”
- “Thank you for your help with both Nan’s and Granddad’s funerals. Respect, dignity and professionalism made things easier.”
- “Outstanding care and service exactly as wished; the guidance and friendship were unforgettable.”
- “Thanks for all the little touches that made Paul’s final journey memorable and kind.”
Cllr Patricia Hetherton, Cabinet Member for City Services at Coventry City Council, said: “We know many people are facing hard times financially and funerals can be very expensive and bring so much extra stress and anguish at what is such a difficult time
“There are those who just wouldn’t be able to say a proper goodbye to loved ones without some extra support, and that is heartbreaking and should not be a part of a caring city.
“We launched the Coventry Funeral Service as part of our commitment to supporting the people of the city, to be there for them and let them know there is help and support available and people who care.
“The team has created an excellent service that has already helped many families, and you can tell from the warm tributes what a difference they are making. I would advise anyone who has lost someone or knows of a family that needs support to talk to the team and see the help available – it really can make a difference.”
