Coventry City Council has celebrated National Apprenticeship Week 2026 by delivering its largest School Apprenticeship Show to date on Tuesday 10 February.
Hosted at Coventry Rugby Club, the event saw more than 350 students from Coventry schools coming together with more than 25 employers, with representation across construction, healthcare, engineering, digital technology, and the public sector.
Hundreds of students from Years 10 to 13 were given the chance to speak directly with employers, hear real career stories and learn about live apprenticeship vacancies, from cutting-edge digital roles to practical engineering and construction career opportunities. Schools that attended were Barr’s Hill School and Community College, Caludon Castle School, WMG Academy for Young Engineers, InspirED Pathways, Sidney Stringer Academy, Finham Park School and Eden Girls’ School.
Councillor Dr Kindy Sandhu, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said:
“It can be so difficult for young people to know what they want to do when they leave school, and events like these really help to bridge that gap, giving young people considering their futures the chance to speak directly with employers and what qualifications and opportunities are available through apprenticeships.”
Councillor Jim O’Boyle, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Regeneration and Climate Change, said:
“I’m really pleased to see that we’re able to connect local employers to young people who will be the future workforce in the next few years. Apprenticeships are a fantastic way for school leavers to get on-the-job experience, qualifications and get their foot in the door of some of the major local employers we have across Coventry.”
