Examination hearings to review Coventry’s Local Plan are happening in the coming weeks and local people have the opportunity to watch the hearings.
The hearings start at 9:30 am although there is no specific end time. These are being held on the 1st floor of One Friargate, Coventry, CV1 2GN.
People who wish to attend can report to reception at One Friargate and will then be directed to the first floor.
The city’s current Local Plan was adopted in December 2017, and the examination relates to a review of that Plan.
Cllr Naeem Akhtar, Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities, said: “I would encourage any members of the public to attend the hearings. The hearings offer an opportunity to find out about the work that has gone into the review.
“The aim of the review is to help our policies remain both up to date and relevant to the needs of Coventry residents and businesses; and to ensure the policies we set out provide a robust framework for the consideration and determination of planning applications of all sizes.
“We want to make best use of land, and to apply policies in line with a Brownfield site first approach.
“The review has been supported by and prepared by using an extensive and up to date evidence base in collaboration with our partners across the region.
“Council is fully committed to achieving a sound Local Plan and a Plan that we believe is positively prepared, justified, effective and consistent with national policy.”
The hearings are being held on Thursday 26 March, 14, 15 and 16 April (Tuesday to Thursday) and 28, 29 and 30 April (Tuesday to Thursday).
