There are estimated to be more than 27,000 people with caring responsibilities in Coventry and many of these provide unpaid care.

That’s around one in 10 people providing unpaid care in the city - and many carers are juggling work and care, this includes adult carers, parent carers and young carers.

It’s estimated that the value of unpaid care in Coventry is more than £970million. Put simply - without carers our health and social care systems would be overwhelmed.

We’re now developing a five-year Carers Strategy to help us set our key priorities and identify where we need to develop support.

But to do this we need the views of carers, and we want to hear from you.

Pete Fahy, Director of Care, Health and Housing, at the Council, said: “Many of us are likely to care for someone or be cared for during our lifetime - or will be close to someone who is caring, so we should all feel like we have a stake in how carers support is delivered and planned.

“That’s why we are encouraging local carers to help shape how we continue to develop our support to carers over the next five years through contributing to our strategy.

“Carers are absolutely vital to the health and wellbeing of people with a care need and there are lots of ways where people can find details about support with their caring.”

We’d really appreciate your input.
