Coventry City Council is looking to hear from communities ahead of the launch of a new grants programme to support community events.
The Community Events Enablement Grants programme is designed to support small‑scale capital investments that enable local events and activities.
The programme is being developed through investment from the Pride in Place Impact Fund, with potential grants of £2,000–£5,000 available for equipment, repairs, improvements, infrastructure and other essential items to help community groups deliver events for residents.
Feedback and expressions of interest are particularly welcomed from grassroots organisations, smaller community groups and individuals – including those who may not have applied for Council funding before.
Completion of the expression of interest and feedback form is not an application, but the information submitted will help shape the grants programme. Those who do complete the form will be contacted once the grants programme is live with information about how to submit an application for funding.
Councillor John McNicholas, Cabinet Member for Events, said: “Events and activities are at the heart of our communities and we want to support residents by enabling and empowering them to support their local area.
“Feedback will help us design a grant programme that responds to real needs and supports the groups who bring people together through events, creativity and local activity.
“I encourage those who host activities and events to let us know they are interested in applying for a grant, but also to let us know how this programme can support communities in the best way possible.”
The grant is intended to support practical, tangible improvements that make community events possible - from storage and accessibility upgrades to equipment and small building repairs.
While eligibility criteria are still being developed, the programme will focus on investments that directly benefit Coventry residents and enable community activity.
The expression of interest and feedback form, along with information about the programme can be found on the Coventry City Council website. The form closes on Tuesday 1 September.
