Congratulations to Coventry sixth form students who are celebrating their achievements after receiving their provisional A level and vocational qualification results for 2026.
Coventry’s provisional results show that over half of the city’s secondary school sixth forms gained improvements in the highest grade of A* at A level.
Students in the city have maintained strong performances across key measures, with high levels of achievement across both academic and vocational pathways. This year saw an increase in the number of students taking both academic and vocational qualifications, demonstrating the strength of education and training opportunities available across the city.
Here’s how this year’s results compared to 2025’s results:
- Results at A* are up from 5.3% to 5.7% - a 0.4 percentage point increase.
- Results at A*- B remained the same at 45.6%
- Results at A* to E are up from 96.6% to 96.8% - a 0.2 percentage point increase.
- Although there was a slight decrease in the overall pass rate in vocational qualifications to 98%, a high number of students continue to achieve Distinction*/Distinction grades.
Cllr Abdul Salam Khan, Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Equalities at Coventry City Council said:

These results represent years of hard work, commitment and determination, and every student should be extremely proud of what they have achieved."
"It is encouraging to see Coventry maintaining strong outcomes, particularly at high grades and to also see the number of students taking qualifications at this level increase.
"I would also like to thank our teachers, school leaders, support staff, parents and carers for the vital role they play in helping young people succeed. Their dedication and encouragement continue to make a real difference."
"Whether students are progressing to university, apprenticeships, employment, further training or other opportunities, I wish them every success in their next steps."

“While most will be pleased with their results, there are those who may have been disappointed, but there is plenty of support available for anyone who would like some advice about their next steps if they didn’t get the results they wanted.”

The National Careers Service will again deliver its Exam Results Helpline throughout August. Young people and parents can contact the helpline on 0800 100 900 to speak with a professionally qualified careers adviser about their next steps.The helpline is open from 8am to 8.00pm Monday to Friday, and 10am to 5pm on Saturdays and bank holidays. Support is also available through the National Careers Service website.
