Coventry’s Hindu community came together on Monday 14 September for Shree Ganesh Mahotsav 2026, a community celebration organised by Shree Varashidhi Vinayaka Friend’s Circle.
Coventry’s Hindu community came together on Monday 14 September for Shree Ganesh Mahotsav 2026, a community celebration organised by Shree Varashidhi Vinayaka Friend’s Circle.
The event featured Ganesh Maha Pooja and traditional prayers, followed by Annadhanam, a free vegetarian community meal, as well as community activities and devotional music. The celebration concluded with a Ganesh Nimarjan procession from Lower Ford Street.
Cllr Naeem Akhtar, Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities, said:
“Coventry is proud to be a diverse city where communities can come together to celebrate their culture, traditions and faith. It is wonderful to see people gathering for Ganesh Puja and sharing this special occasion with the wider community. I would like to wish everyone involved in the celebrations a happy and peaceful Ganesh Mahotsav.”
Organisers had marshals, first-aid provision and crowd-management arrangements in place, with a focus on holding a safe and respectful community celebration.
