Purpose of the consultation
The school admissions code (point 1.45) states that when admission authorities propose changes to their current admission arrangements, they must consult on those changes for a minimum of 6 weeks. This consultation period allows parents, other schools, religious authorities and the local community to raise any concerns about their proposed admission arrangements. The code also sates that there is a requirement that admission authorities must consult on their admission arrangements at least once every 7 years, even if there have been no changes during that period.
The annual process for consultation must take place between 1 October and 31 January in the determination year.
For the 2027 to 2028 admissions policies this falls between 1 October 2025 to 31 January 2026.
Further details will be made available when details have been received by the Local Authority.

Warwickshire County Council is consulting on its Admission Arrangements, Coordinated Scheme and In Year Admissions Process for 2027 to 2028.
In accordance with the School Admissions Code, the local authority must consult on their admission arrangements when changes are proposed, and at least once every 7 years.
The proposed changes being consulted on for the 2027 to 2028 academic year are:
Admission arrangements for Warwickshire community and voluntary controlled schools
- To include children of staff at the school in the oversubscription criteria for all community and voluntary controlled schools
- To include that a child must be eligible for pupil premium, or service premium at the time of making the application for a junior school place (year 3 entry) – this would bring the oversubscription criteria for junior schools in line with those for primary and infant schools.
- To amend the priority areas for Lighthorne Heath, Shottery St Andrews and Bishopton Primary Schools in South Warwickshire.
- To decrease the published admission number (PAN) for Thomas Jolyffe and Water Orton Primary Schools to reflect forecast data and support stability and budget planning
The Coordinated Scheme
- That Supplementary Forms (where relevant) are sent directly to the school they are applying for in line with that school’s admission arrangements. These should not be uploaded to the parent portal with the application.
- To remove evidence of future house moves/relocations to the UK as acceptable proof of address.
The Coordinated In-Year Process
- To remove the requirement for parents to register their interest for their child to remain on a waiting list held by the local authority each term.
- To remove evidence of future house moves/relocations to the UK as acceptable proof of address.
For further information, please visit the consultation and arrangements documents.
Any comments or objections should be submitted in writing for the attention of Nikki Daly - Commissioning Manager (Education Sufficiency) either via email to schoolorganisation@warwickshire.gov.uk or by post using the following address: Education Services, Warwickshire County Council, Shire Hall, Warwick, CV34 4RL.
