Applying for a Year 3 place for 2026 entry

The information on this page will explain how to apply for a Junior place in 2026 for children born between 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2019.

Please read all the information before applying.

There is one junior school in Coventry, covering year groups 3 - 6 (Key Stage 2):

• Eastern Green Junior School

The school has close links with their infant school, St Andrew's Church of England Infant School. The majority of parents wish their children to transfer from the infant school to the junior school, but can also apply to other primary schools. It is also possible for parents from other schools to apply for a place at Eastern Green at the end of Year 2.

The local authority is responsible for the allocation of places at Eastern Green Junior School [https://www.coventry.gov.uk/directory-record/43075/eastern-green-junior], however, the school has its own admissions criteria as detailed in the school's admissions policy document [http://www.coventry.gov.uk/downloads/download/1735/eastern_green_junior_school]. This will be relevant to all parents of current Year 2 children.

Important dates

The application process to apply on time starts on 1 September 2025. 

The National closing date for making your application on time was 15 January 2026.

16 April 2026 – result emailed by 5pm or details available in your online account.

20 April 2026 - Parents who submitted a paper application will receive the result by letter.

Late Applications received after 15 January 2026 will be considered in the second allocation round in May 2026.

Access the Coventry Education Services Portal [https://www.coventry.gov.uk/schoolplaces] to make your on-time application before 15 January 2026.

We recommend parents to apply online as:

• it is quick, easy to use and secure
• you receive an email confirmation once you submit your application
• there is no risk of your application getting lost in the post
• you can check and change your application up to the closing date. However, please make sure that you resubmit if you view or change it
• it saves time, paper and postage
• you will receive an email on the 16 April 2026 confirming the school allocated
• you can log into your account on 16 April 2026 to find out the result

• for September 2026 a number of schools have consulted and agreed on changes to their admissions criteria. Therefore, please look at the admissions policy for each school

If you are applying for a place at Eastern Green Junior school throughout the year, you would need to complete an in-year transfer form, as with any other school.
