Why are you doing this trial?

The Council’s Strategic Energy Partnership with E.ON is delivering a pilot project with the aim of improving home energy efficiency and helping local people to heat their homes for less.

E.ON and Coventry City Council are working in partnership with Kestrix, a technology company that analyses thermal images of buildings, to assess how much heat is lost from homes. This technology can assess energy efficiency in a quick and simple way, identifying what energy efficiency works would deliver most benefit to people within an area.

The Kestrix Drone scans have currently been targeted in two main areas of the city. Firstly, to Hillfields and Stoke households in 2025, and now to residents in Woodlands Ward (Feb 2026).

How is this work being funded?

The pilot project is funded through the Strategic Energy Partnership innovation fund.

Why did you choose these areas?

We want to target areas where we know people are struggling with the cost of heating their homes. The data from this trial will help to ensure a joined-up approach with other programmes happening and planned for the Hillfields and Stoke area.

We also wanted to target another area which provides a good opportunity for energy efficiency upgrades such as air source heat pumps.

What will happen next?

Once all the data has been collected, it will be analysed on a street-by-street basis. E.ON or the City Council will then contact householders to identify options for energy efficiency measures with the aim of helping you to heat your home for less. All households included within the scans will be contacted.

Will I be able to see the results for my home?

If you received a letter from us about the trial, then yes, you will be able to see the results for your home.

When will the results for this be available?

We expect everyone to have results within six months of the survey completion. Some results should be available before this as the data is analysed.

How can I find out if I qualify for free energy-saving offers?

The Council are managing schemes which could provide free energy-savings measures to certain households that meet the eligibility criteria. The analysis of the data will help identify properties that may be eligible for energy-saving upgrades, such as cavity wall insulation or loft insulation. We will contact households based on this information . Further eligibility criteria may be required to access grant funding. If you would like to find out sooner, please contact our local energy charity partner, Act On Energy [https://www.coventry.gov.uk/home-energy-warmth/keeping-coventry-warm] (actonenergy.org.uk or 0800 988 2881), who will be able to support you with information on schemes you may be eligible for.

Many households scanned may not be eligible for free energy-saving measures, in this case we will still contact you for how best you can install energy-saving measures and what offers may be available at the time.

What if I want to opt out of the survey?

If you do not want your home to be surveyed or you do not want to be contacted again about it, please email support@kestrix.io [mailto:support@kestrix.io]
