The sports facilities in the park include:

• 8 Full size Tennis courts (4 Floodlit) and 2 mini courts. 
• 12 football pitches
• Flat green bowls 
• 18-hole FootGolf course (9-hole in wet conditions).
• Cricket pitch. Please phone for details.

Charges are made for using these facilities, which helps with the cost of maintaining the park.

Changing is available in the main pavilion, which also provides a small shop selling souvenirs and refreshments, toilets, showers, and a cafe.

Cash payment is not available for sports or facility usage, only card payment.

Opening times and tennis court booking

All Tennis Court bookings at War Memorial Park are now taken through I2C Tennis and Tennis Court booking must be made through the War Memorial Park tennis online booking system [http://clubspark.lta.org.uk/WarMemorialParkTennisClub].

Bookings and payments can no longer be made at the Tennis and Bowls Pavilion.

Equipment hire is not available.

Footgolf is a combination of football and golf, just with bigger holes.

The course is situated on the old pitch and putt site and is great fun for all the family as well as an ideal venue to celebrate family events, birthdays, work outings and children’s birthday parties.

18 holes

• £8.40 – full price adult / £4.20 for Go CV+, concessions and juniors (under 16s)
• £6.70 - Student (with valid Student Card) Mon - Fri (excluding Bank Holidays)
• £20.00 - Family Ticket (2 Adults / 2 Children)
• Groups (6 people and over)- Adult £6.70, Go CV+, concessions and juniors (under 16s) £3.35

There may be occasion when weather / course conditions may dictate that only 9 holes are available for play. In this instance- Full Price Adult £5.60, Go CV +, concessions and juniors £2.80. No Student, Family, Group Ticket option for 9 hole. 9 hole option not available when the course is fully open.

Please note: There is a £1.40 charge for ball hire.

Opening times

Monday - Sunday, 7 days a week 9:30am - 3:30pm (last hires 2:30pm)

Opening hours can vary depending on weather condition and events on site so please call ahead to confirm course opening times.

Please note: If weather and ground conditions dictate the course may be restricted to a 9 hole course and prices amended accordingly.

Rules

1. Footgolf is an enjoyable family friendly game so please respect all players on the course. Please conduct yourself in the spirit and sportsmanship of our great game of golf.
2. Although there are no formal rules on what to wear, we are happy to see you in sporting attire and dressed for fun.
3. Use your scorecard and wait for your turn and try to make sure your kick does not interfere with others on the course.
4. The ball must be played in a single movement. Kick the ball rather than pushing it.
5. Wait until the ball comes to rest. Don’t stop the ball from rolling in the wind.
6. Kick your ball from a position up to two metres behind the markers. The order of play is established based on the score of the previous hole. The player with the best score will be the first to kick off on the next hole followed by the second and so on.
7. Play the ball from where it lands. Please do not move the ball. However, you can mark the spot and lift the ball if it obstructs the other player’s kick or ball in any way.
8. The player furthest from the hole, is the first to kick the ball.
9. If you are unfortunate enough to land your ball in water, retrieve or replace it within two steps from the closest land point from where the ball entered the water. Receive one penalty point. Alternatively, you can place the ball at the position of the previous kick and receive one penalty point.
10. Only on the greens may the ball be picked up or replaced. Regardless of the distance from the hole, the hole must be completed, so giving up the hole to your opponents is a no-no!

Room to hire

We have two rooms based in the visitors centre which can be booked individually or as one larger space. 

The first room available measures at 41.25m2 and the second room measures at 36.75m2. If combining both as one larger space they measure at 78m2.  

Both rooms have access to toilet facilities and include the use of table and chairs. We can accommodate 29 people per room without the use of tables, 26 people with tables.

When combining both rooms as one larger space, the maximum capacity is 58 people without tables and 52 people with tables included.   

When booking the room to hold physical classes we recommend no more than 10 participants plus trainer / instructor per room.

Please note that the Education room can only be booked during the opening times of the Visitor Centre.

Prices

Charges include the use of a tea urn, kettle and cups, but not food or drinks. Refreshments can be purchased or arranged through the park's cafés.

Cafe facilities in the park

The War Memorial Park has three outlets providing refreshments from coffee to a meal.

The Bistro: Open 8am - 8pm (at the Tennis Office)

The Park Bistro serves breakfast, small plates, afternoon tea and supper, including fresh pastries, homemade sausage rolls and a chef's special burger. It’s open 8am – 8pm daily. Sundae Club: Open 11am - 6pm (at the Visitor Centre)

Gelato Bar: Open 9.30am - 5pm Saturdays/Sundays and school holidays (by the skatepark)

Park Gelato is a charming ice cream kiosk opposite the skate park at War Memorial Park, perfect to grab a quick bite or cool down on a hot day. We serve a wide selection of ice creams, snacks and hot and cold drinks – perfect for children and parents alike! Our opening times are 10am to 5.30pm Saturdays, Sundays and school holidays.
