We’re hosting some special events in Bell Green on 16 – 18 September where we’ll be working to support people to feel happier, healthier, find job opportunities and improve the local environment.
Wednesday 16 September
Job Fest - 1pm-4pm at North Point Church, Park Edge Community and Best Start Family Hub on Roseberry Avenue
Job Fest is back to help you find jobs, learn new skills and improve your health.
Come along to:
- Meet employers face-to-face and apply for roles with no CV needed
- Find out about free training and skills support, whether that's a short course, work-related learning, an apprenticeship or just help to boost your confidence when applying for jobs
- Find out how you could improve your health and wellbeing
- Have a go at activities like boxing and cycling

Friday 18 September
Big Cleanup - 1pm-3pm
Join local rangers, outdoor education staff and community volunteers for a hands-on afternoon helping to make a real difference to the local environment. Together we'll litter pick around Riley Square and help clean sections of the River Sowe, removing rubbish, plastics and other debris to create a cleaner, healthier space for wildlife and the community to enjoy. Whether you're passionate about the environment, want to meet new people, or simply fancy getting outdoors and giving something back, everyone is welcome.
Simply meet our friendly team outside Farm Foods in Riley Square at 1pm on Friday 18 September and we'll provide the equipment and guidance you need.
Please wear sensible, closed-toe footwear and dress appropriately for the weather. We recommend clothing that you don't mind getting a little muddy while helping to improve the local area.
Outdoor Education planting and growing session - 10am-12noon
Get your hands dirty and help bring new life to Bell Green! Join the Outdoor Education team for a fun, family-friendly session where you'll have the chance to plant flowers and vegetables from seed, create colourful planters, and learn more about nature and the local environment. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or a complete beginner, everyone is welcome to get involved.
Simply come along to the Outdoor Education gazebo in the park on Roseberry Avenue (next to Park Edge Community and Best Start Family Hub) between 10am and 12pm. The team will be on hand to guide you through planting vegetables and flowers from seed or helping you create a planter. They'll answer any questions about gardening and the environment. No experience is needed, and adults and children are welcome to take part.
Green-themed Rhymetime and Stay and Play - 10.30am-11.30am
Join us for a special green-themed Rhymetime and Stay and Play session for children aged 0 to 4 years and their parents or carers. Enjoy songs, and fun play activities with a nature-inspired twist, while spending quality time with your little one and meeting other local families.
Simply pop along to Bell Green Library with your little one and join in. Our friendly library staff will be leading the session and will make sure everyone feels welcome. No booking is required, just come along, sing, play, and have fun!
Learn about waste and recycling - 10am-11.30am
Waste Education colleagues will be popping up at Park Edge Family Hub, where they’ll chat to residents about all things waste and recycling, including the new food waste service. Pop along for a chat anytime between 10.30am and 11.30am
