We are the main provider of psychological services to Coventry schools and early years settings, working to support the learning, development and mental health of children and young people from birth to 25 years. We work closely with colleagues across Education, Health and Social Care to provide a coordinated approach to supporting children, young people and their families.
Educational Psychologists work in partnership with parents and/or carers, school staff and other professionals to understand children's and young people's strengths, needs and experiences. Drawing on their knowledge of child development, psychology and education, they help develop an understanding of complex situations and identify practical ways forward.
In Coventry, schools and educational settings typically commission our service directly, with referrals usually made through the school's Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) in partnership with parents/carers. We may also become involved as part of the Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessment and Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process.
Coventry Educational Psychology Service is highly valued by schools and settings across the city, with over 85% of schools rating our service as 'Good' or 'Outstanding' in a recent survey.
