Request to book a MOT

You can request to book a MOT;

  • online (this option will be available soon)
  • over the phone
    • Phone us on 024 7683 2147
    • You will need to provide your name, vehicle details and contact details
    • We are open Monday to Thursday 6.30am - 6pm and Friday 6.30am - 4pm

About the MOT test

The MOT test checks that your vehicle meets road safety and environmental standards.

You must get a MOT for your vehicle by either;

  • the third anniversary of its registration
  • the anniversary of its last MOT, if its over 3 years old

Some vehicles need to be tested at one year old - check the MOT fees table to see which.

MOT test length

The MOT takes approximately one hour to complete.

Leaving and collecting your vehicle

You can leave your vehicle with us and drop your keys off at reception. You will need to collect your vehicle the same day, before 6pm (Monday to Thursday) or 4pm (Friday).

Fixing your vehicle

We do not provide a vehicle repair service.

Passing the MOT

If your vehicle passes the MOT;

  • you'll get a MOT certificate from us
  • it will be recorded in the MOT database

You might also get a list of 'minor' or 'advisory' problems to monitor or fix in future.

Failing the MOT

Your vehicle will fail if the test result lists 'dangerous' or 'major' problems with your vehicle. You might not be allowed to drive until you fix the problems.

If your vehicle fails the MOT;

You can appeal the result if you think its wrong.

Taking your vehicle away for repair if it has failed the MOT

You can take your vehicle away if;

  • your current MOT certificate is still valid
  • no 'dangerous' problems were listed in the MOT

Otherwise, you will need to get it repaired before you can drive.

You will need to recover your vehicle from our depot if it has failed the MOT.

If you can take your vehicle away, it must still meet the minimum standards of roadworthiness at all times.
