Private fostering arrangements
Private Fostering arrangements in which someone who is not a close relative of the child looks after the child for 28 days or more (as per section 66(1)(a) and (b) of the Children Act 1989). In these circumstances, a Private Fostering Assessment will be completed by children’s social care. This statutory assessment is to ascertain the carer’s suitability to care for the child and must also consider the child’s needs to ensure the carers are able to provide suitable day-to-day care of the child.
