There were elections on 2 May 2024 for the Combined Authority Mayor, Police and Crime Commissioner and City Council elections.  

For the City Council 18 out of the 54 seats were up for election.

Nomination papers

Nomination packs for City Council elections can be downloaded from the Electoral Commission website [https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/guidance-candidates-and-agents-local-government-elections-england/nominations].

The last time for submission of nomination papers is 4pm Friday 5 April 2024.

Informal checks can be carried out on nominations prior to submission.

Election Agents

Candidates can appoint someone to act as their Election Agent. The agent then becomes responsible for organising their campaign and submission of election expenses.

Appointment of Polling and Counting Agents

Candidates are able to appoint polling agents to attend and observe the poll in the polling stations and counting agents to observe the count process. All validly nominated candidates will receive a form from the Returning Officer after close of nominations for this purpose.

Notice of Countermanding Poll - Radford Ward

Election of Councillor to the Radford Ward of Coventry City Council

2 May 2024

Notice is hereby given that the election of a councillor to the Radford Ward of Coventry City Council is hereby countermanded in accordance with Rule 55 of the Local Elections (Principal Areas) (England and Wales) Rules 2006, due to the death of a candidate in the election named above.

The Returning Officer will order a new election to be held for this ward, the date being within 35 days (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays) from the date originally fixed as the day of election for the countermanded poll.

New nominations may be accepted, but no fresh nomination is necessary in the case of a person remaining validly nominated as shown in the Statement of Persons Nominated. 

Notice of the new election to be held will be published not later than 25 days (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays) before the date of the election.
