Dress code

Inclusion is at the heart of all we do at Whitmore Park Annexe. We offer a safe and secure learning environment where everyone is treated equally and fairly. Our dress code is optional and is intended to eliminate the anxiety that some learners feel when deciding what to wear to school, or to offer a comfortable option for those who experience sensory discomfort when wearing certain fabrics.

Many of the young people directed towards our service will probably already have some of the items on the dress code list. Our intention is to keep costs low for families and it is for this reason that we propose a plain, gender neutral dress code (aligned with the Equality Act 2010) comprising of clothing from the following list:

Do wear

  • Black or grey trousers or jogging bottoms appropriate for school
  • Black or grey plain school skirt (knee-length) with black or grey opaque tights or socks
  • White school shirt or polo with collar
  • Comfortable black shoes, boots or black trainers
  • Clip-on tie (optional and provided by school)
  • Plain black or grey cardigan, hoodie or sweatshirt

Don't wear

  • Jeans
  • Tight mini skirts
  • Sandals, high heels, flip-flops, sliders
  • Hoodies or sweatshirts
