Coventry residents can now access data support from more locations across the city.
In 2022, as part of the Council’s #CovConnects programme, the Council signed up to the National Databank to help distribute data to people who are struggling to afford to stay connected.
Through the programme, qualifying residents are able to access vouchers and sim cards pre-loaded with data. To qualify for the support, you must over 18 and come from a low-income household.
Up until now, members of the public have had to apply for this support in person at Broadgate House or via the Council website. However the scheme has been expanded and residents can now apply for the support at all eight of the Council’s Family Hubs and at select libraries.
Those libraries are:
- Central Library
- Bell Green Library
- Foleshill Library
- Stoke Library
- Tile Hill Library.
Locations and opening hours for the Libraries and Family Hubs can be found on the Council’s website.
Cllr Richard Brown, Cabinet Member for Strategic Finance and Resources, said “The internet is a huge part of our lives and it’s only going to keep growing in importance as the years go by.
“We want all our residents to be able to take advantage of the digital world regardless of background and circumstance. That is why we signed up to the National Databank in the first place.
“I’m pleased to see this project has expanded beyond the city centre and is reaching out into communities across the city. I hope that by making it easier for people to physically access this support we’ll encourage more people to apply."
