Congratulations to Coventry sixth form students who are celebrating their success in the summer of 2025.

Coventry’s provisional results show that over half of the city’s secondary school sixth forms gained improvements in the high grades of A* to A and A* to B at A level.

The city’s students improved on all A level measures, including A* to E. These positive results mean that our children and young people continue to close the gap with national figures.

In addition, there was an increase in the number of vocational qualifications taken by Coventry students demonstrating the breadth of opportunities available for young people in Coventry. A high proportion of students continue to achieve Distinction*/Distinction grades in 2025.

See below for this year’s highlights compared with 2024 results.

  • Results at A* are up from 5.1% to 5.3% - a 0.2 percentage point increase.
  • Results at A* to A are up from 18.5% to 19.3% - a 0.8 percentage point increase.
  • Results at A*-B are up from 43.8% to 45.6% - a 1.8 percentage point increase.
  • Results at A* to E are up from 96.2% to 96.6% - a 0.4 percentage point increase.
  • Results in vocational qualifications, equivalent to A levels, are up from a pass rate of 99.1% to 99.4% - a 0.3 percentage point increase.

Cllr Dr Kindy Sandhu, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: "Year on year I am always incredibly proud of what Coventry’s young people achieve. Congratulations to every single student who has sat A level and vocational qualification exams in 2025.

“I’m thrilled that a high number of Coventry students continue to take A levels and vocational qualifications and am delighted that their hard work and commitment has resulted in another fantastic set of results. It’s so positive to see that so many of our young people achieve high grades at the end of their study and can progress to their chosen destinations and pathways.

"I also want to thank school staff, as well as parents and carers, who have provided the vital care and support to help young people achieve these impressive results.

"I wish all students the very best of luck with their next steps, and a reminder that there is lots of help available whether you got the grades you expected or not."

Earlier today, we visited Sidney Stringer school to find out how some of the pupils had got on.
