For residents who have a disability or neurodiversity condition and need advice, guidance or assistance to job search or apply for a job, we can arrange a supported interview with a trained advisor who will tailor employment support to accommodate your individual needs.
You can now register online with The Job Shop, we are here to help you with:
- 1 to 1 Job Coaching: A dedicated Job Coach to work with you in a person-centred way
- Practical Support: Support with preparing your CV, interview skills, confidence building, interview preparation and keeping your job once you get it.
- Direct vacancies from our employer network
- Exciting events to meet directly with local employers and training providers.
- Careers Advice: Specialised support and guidance to help you succeed in a career of your choice.
- Skills Support: Helping you find the right training providers for the skills you need for your chosen career.
- Money Advice: To help you with managing debt, budgeting, claiming benefits and better off calculation.
- Barrier Breaking Support: Helping with travel costs, interview clothing and childcare support.
- Health and Wellbeing Support: Maintaining or improving your health and wellbeing.
- Signposting: Helping you access a range of other services that can support you.
How do I register?
You will need to input the following information:
- Name
- Phone number
- Address (including postcode)
- Date of Birth
Please note postcode, age range and employment status are requested to ensure you see the most appropriate Job Coach, as each Job Coach works within a separate area of specialism.
What happens next?
Once you have submitted your registration, it will be sent to a member of the team to process (please note registrations are only processed during The Job Shop's opening hours), once this has been done you will receive an e-mail to the supplied address with the next steps attached.

About the Job Shop
Coventry City Council’s Job Shop has recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary. In which time we have supported over 65,000 Coventry Residents with tailored 1:1 support, successfully assisting nearly 15,000 people into paid employment, and have worked with over 200 businesses each year to find vacancies relevant to our customers.
Customers are supported by experienced employment coaches to secure financial independence, upskill, enter training and education, source volunteering opportunities and receive barrier-breaking support, tailored personally to their individual needs.
We are delighted to announce that the Job Shop’s Employment and Skills projects have been awarded money as part of the West Midlands Combined Authority’s and HM Government’s Fund to deliver two exiting new projects:
Connect to Work which is designed to provide support for young disabled residents, residents with long-term health conditions, and other those with other barriers to finding work. This funding will enable our team to be offer supported employment through the delivery of 2 evidence-based Employment Support models:
- Individual Placement Support (IPS), support is integrated with primary and secondary health care services at a physical level. This model embeds work as a health outcome for customers with moderate to high levels of need e.g. mental health/physical health
- Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF), support is integrated alongside community support including family with a deeper level of support for customers with a higher level of need
Youth Trailblazer part of the Government’s Youth Guarantee enabling all 18-21 years in England have access to education, training or help to find a job or apprenticeship.
As well as continued investment from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, which aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
These combined funds will enable us to create a positive and lasting legacy across the entire region, leaving a mark of opportunity for generations to come.
