Data Security Protection Toolkit (DSPT)
The Data Security Protection Toolkit (DSPT) is a compliance checklist conducted by West Midlands Care Association (WMCA) to measure the level of Data Protection amongst Adult Social Care providers.
There are no costs to becoming DSPT compliant, with the exception of the money required to digitise care records if the provider is using paper-based recording systems prior.
Providers will need to have their paper-based records upgraded to digital social care records (DSCR) to achieve DSPT compliance, the DTF grant can help to fund this. WMCA oversees the Digital Transformation Fund (DTF) grants and training for DSPT.
WMCA are always happy to support providers with applications and training with achieving DTF/ DSPT if needed
During CQC visits, inspectors will look at whether providers are on the compliance list or are working towards it. There is no set window to complete this, providers can check themselves against the toolkit at any time to make sure that they are compliant. Although there is no set window, providers are encouraged to ensure that they are recorded as DSPT compliant to ensure that their data is safe, secure and protected
