If you're in crisis

Our local mental health crisis line, managed by Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust can now be accessed via NHS 111 and selecting ‘mental health option’. It can also be accessed online via 111.nhs.uk [https://url.uk.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/r3fkCZ4kwtmxxEZTyBr-o?domain=111.nhs.uk]

Specially trained mental health staff will speak to callers, discuss their urgent needs, and assess what the best way to support them is depending on their symptoms.

Anyone can call for themselves or someone else can call for them, for example a friend, carer, family member or GP.  NHS 111 is for all ages, including children and young people and those with neurodevelopmental needs.

If people have physically harmed themselves, or if their life is at immediate risk, then they should continue to call 999 or go to A&E.

If a person is not in a mental health crisis, but feels they need mental health support, they should begin by making an appointment with their local GP.

For health and care professionals, the Mental Health Access Hub number will remain open for use: 08081 966798.

A crisis could be a time when you are unable to keep yourself safe.

What is CAMHS and the Mental Health System?

Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) is a family of NHS-led services providing emotional wellbeing and mental health services for children and young people. In Coventry and Warwickshire this service is called Rise [http://www.cwrise.com/].

Other services and organisations work with Health, Education and Social Care professionals within a wider Mental Health System, with CAMHS being a part of this.

Kooth

Kooth is an emotional wellbeing support offer that provides anonymised free online advice, support and guidance to young people aged 11 to 25 years living in Coventry. Kooth allows young people to access a community whereby they can find support through magazine articles, peer to peer discussion forums, a self-help activity hub as well as online 1:1 counselling support.

Dimensions tool

The Dimensions of Health and Wellbeing is a free online tool providing self-care information to support adults, children and young people in Coventry and Warwickshire. You can rate yourself or another person against a number of dimensions related to health and wellbeing.

The Dimensions tool is available 24/7 and creates a Dimensions report which provides information about self-care, local services and support.

The Coventry and Warwickshire Mental Wellbeing Line

The Coventry and Warwickshire Mental Wellbeing Line is still available for anyone aged 16 or above who feels they are feeling low, anxious or stressed, are having a difficult time coping, and need to talk to someone in confidence to find the right service:  0800 616171.

Mental health and safeguarding children and young people

Mental health problems can, in some cases, be an indicator that a child has suffered or is at risk of suffering abuse, neglect or exploitation. The Coventry Safeguarding Children Partnership website [https://www.coventry.gov.uk/cscpinfoprofessionals] has a range of resources that can help understand other indicators and provide links to wider support.

Reading Well for Children aged 7-11 and Reading Well for Teens

We offer these book collections in our libraries for these age groups. 

The collections provide children, young people and their families and carers with information, advice and support for coping with feelings and worries, daily life and getting through a tough time as well as boosting confidence.
