Family and community voice

Families and parents

Throughout this Strategy, references to “families” and “parents” are intended to be inclusive of carers and other primary caregivers, including kinship carers, foster carers and adoptive parents.

Families are at the heart of the Best Start in Life offer. Listening to and acting on their voices will be central to how services are planned, delivered, and continuously improved. Families bring invaluable insight into what works, what needs to change and how support can be made more accessible, culturally competent, and responsive to diverse needs. Through ongoing co-production, including parent and carer forums, lived-experience panels and regular feedback mechanisms, families will play a key role in shaping priorities, influencing service design, and helping to test and refine new approaches.

Embedding family voice at every level, from strategic planning to frontline delivery, will ensure services remain relevant, trusted and rooted in the real experiences of the communities they serve.

Community

This Strategy has been co-developed with a wide range of stakeholders and voluntary, community, and faith sector partners. Our Best Start in Life coalition is committed to shared pathways, aligned planning and coordinated delivery, shaped by and with the communities it serves.

By collaborating collectively with local people and focusing resources where they will have the greatest impact, partners will deliver a graduated offer that supports families early, removes barriers swiftly and responds flexibly to differing levels of need.

In doing so, Coventry aims to ensure that every child receives a Bold Start to life and the foundations for a Bright Future.
