At InspirED Pathways, we believe in providing our learners with a  bespoke curriculum that meets their diverse needs. We believe there is no one size fits all and we will work with our learners and their families to ensure they have a curriculum that seeks to motivate and aspire.

We recognise that our learners have often faced significant challenges. As a school we work closely with families and other partner organisations across the region to ensure a joined-up approach to achieve the best outcomes for our young people. We believe one of the most valuable gifts we can offer learners in our setting is the experience of education that develops skills of critical thinking, independent thinking and learning within and between specific subject areas.

We instill this love of learning through our assemblies; tutorials; whole class work and interventions, the skills of reading, writing, thinking and discussing individually and collaboratively promote small but significant progress. We prioritise the mental health and well-being of our students in everything we do, offering a nurturing, supportive environment where students can thrive and achieve.

The breadth and depth of this curriculum offer will be determined by the child's health and the length of time they will be spending with our service.

We offer a broad and balanced range of subjects and a range of qualifications: GCSE, Functional Skills, Entry Level Certificates and Unit Awards to reward and accredit progress and achievement.

All pupils will remain dual-registered with the donor school for the duration of their placement at the Hospital Education Service

Curriculum overviews

At InspirED Pathways, we recognise that our pupils attend Whitmore Park Annexe because they are, at that point in time, unable to succeed in a mainstream school. It is therefore crucial that we provide an effective ‘alternative provision’ to mainstream schools to best meet our pupils’ needs. InspirED Pathways has the flexibility and expertise to provide enhanced support above and beyond that of a mainstream school. With small class sizes and the offer of 1:1 sessions, the Hospital Education Service is able to implement a personalised curriculum for each pupil which seeks to address the underlying SEMH needs and/or barriers to learning they may have.

Our priority is to prepare our pupils for reintegration into mainstream school or into special educational settings. For those already in Year 11, we aim to support them to secure positive academic outcomes and prepare them for post16 transition into further education, employment or training.

Here you can find an overview of the curriculum for subjects across our different pathways at Whitmore Park Annexe. These overviews provide you with the details of what students will study during their time with us.
