Occupation of the Road Licence

Welcome to Coventry City Council Highways,

Over the next few pages you will find information about occupation of the roads,  various licences and road closures for events.

Should you wish to occupy the Road/Highway for any reason you must first gain consent from the Local Highways Authority.

Occupation of the road includes but is not limited to the following: -

• Mobile Access Platforms or similar
• Building materials
• Temporary Excavations
• Scaffolding
• Welfare Cabins
• Holding an event

With regards to temporary traffic signals these are not licenced by the Highways Authority however you will still need their approval.

Applications for traffic management using temporary signals should be submitted with your Streetworks permit via Street Manager
