Working in partnership with Emmaus Coventry and Warwickshire [http://www.emmaus.org.uk/coventry_warwickshire] for a small charge, we can collect bulky household waste. Alternatively, you can get rid of these items yourself by taking them to the Household Recycling and Disposal Centre (the tip) [/tip].
Bulky household items we collect
- Bikes, pushchairs and prams
- Children's toys and equipment. For example, playhouse, cot, highchair
- Domestic waste - excess black bag waste. Three black sacks are equal to one individual item. The maximum number of black bags per booking is nine. Please ensure bags are not over-packed to avoid any spillages.
- Exercise equipment (excluding running machines)
- Electric cookers
- Fridge/freezer - please note we are only able to accept domestic appliances. The maximum combination of fridge/freezers per booking is two, any food items must be removed prior to collection or the item will not be taken. If you have a large double-door fridge/freezer combination, please call customer services to check if the item can be taken due to excessive weight.
- Home furnishings (excluding mattresses) - please note each set of furniture should be recorded as individual items i.e. a table and four chairs are five items in total. Examples of items include sofa, settee, table, chair, bed base, wardrobe, chest of drawers
- Garden furniture and small outdoor toys. For example plastic furniture, child's sandpit, swing equipment or ladders (wooden and aluminium)
- Mattresses - please note we will not take mattresses soiled with bodily fluids. The maximum number of mattresses per booking is two.
- Small electrical items for example TV, kettle, toaster, lamp.
Bulky household items we do not collect
- Asbestos
- Builders rubble (including bricks, concrete, paving slabs and tiles)
- Clothing
- Gas cylinders
- Garden waste or petrol lawnmowers
- Pianos
- Liquids or hazardous waste
- Trampolines
- Tyres
- Fixtures and fittings - such as doors, window units, bathroom suites, kitchen units, fireplaces or surrounds and flooring including carpet / laminate
- Bundles of wood

This service is for households within the boundaries of Coventry City Council only. This service is not available to business and private landlords.

Book a bulky waste collection
We collect from specific areas of the city on weekdays between 8am and 5pm. Your collection day will depend upon where in the city you live.
Should we experience any issues on collection dates we will re-attempt the collection the next working day.

Items need to be out at the front of the property on the ground floor and accessible without the need to enter your property/garden. This includes driveways. This must be before your appointment time on the day of collection. The householder does not need to be present for collection.
We are not able to give a specific time of collection, if you are not able to be in on your collection day please consider leaving any items that are suitable for reuse somewhere that is sheltered from the weather, but which is accessible by Emmaus collection staff.
All Emmaus collection staff are formally checked by Coventry City Council and are insured to work with members of the public. They will carry formal identification and will present it if asked.
Charges
How charges will be calculated
- We will collect up to five items for a set fee.
- Up to a further five items may be collected for a set fee per item
- We can only collect a maximum of 10 items.
A discount is available for people who are on:
- State pension
- State benefits (Job Seekers' Allowance, Housing Benefit, Disability Allowance)
Please note payment must be made in advance.

How to pay
You can now book a bulky waste collection online through My Account [/bookbulkywastecollection].
Alternatively a debit or credit card payment can be made by telephone (Monday to Friday). When payment is made you will be told the date the collection will be made.
Please help us by placing the items in the location agreed on the day of collection.
How to cancel or change your collection
For all collections booked, you will be able to amend or cancel the collection up to 2 days before your chosen collection date.
After this date, you will not be able to amend or cancel your booking. Weekend days are counted exactly the same as weekdays for this cut-off.
For example, if you book a collection for Wednesday (either morning or afternoon), you will be able to amend or cancel the collection up until the end of Monday (2 days prior).
In addition, you can only schedule a booking 2 or more days from now.
