Coventry City Council have successfully applied for £2.8 million from the Midlands Net Zero hub to support approximately 150 homes across Coventry. We will be delivering the scheme in partnership with our customer journey support, Act on Energy and our delivery partner E.ON.

The scheme will use a whole house retrofit approach based on appropriate measures identified through a retrofit assessment. Measures could include, air source heat pumps, external or cavity wall insulation, loft/roof insulation and solar PV depending on the suitability of your property.

The scheme will improve the energy efficiency of homes, helping to reduce energy consumption and fuel bills in addition to increasing thermal comfort. The scheme will also help to reduce domestic carbon emissions and reduce fuel poverty levels in the City.

To be eligible for this grant you and your property will need to meet the following criteria:

  • have a combined annual income below £36,000. If it is a private rented property, the tenant needs to fulfil this criteria.
  • Or be living in an area automatically eligible for the scheme – this will be checked when you apply.
  • Your property must have an EPC of D or lower
  • Your property must be off the mains gas grid
  • You must own or privately rent your property

If you privately rent your property, your landlord will need to consent to any works taking place and will need to provide a contribution to the cost of the works (a minimum of 1 third of the total cost) Funding will also be limited to landlords with 4 or fewer properties and funding can only be used to support rented properties with an energy performance certificate of D or E. If the property is rated F or G the landlord must have a registered exemption under the Energy Efficiency Regulations 2015.
