Planning policy consultations

This page holds a list of current consultations on key strategic planning documents drafted and other policy matters currently being consulted upon by the Planning Policy Team such as Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD) and, when necessary, Local Plan reviews.

When documents are published for consultation, they will be listed here along with the time period in which we are accepting responses.

Current consultations

Brownfield Call for Sites: Further extension of opportunity to submit a site

As we have received some queries about when the next call for sites will be run, following our recent deadline, we have decided to extend the opportunity for additional submissions of brownfield sites, especially in the light of the Government’s current consultation on brownfield land.

We are therefore re-opening the call for brownfield sites which will begin at 09:00 on 5 March 2024 and end at 23.59 on Sunday 7 April 2024. Please note, that after this date we will not be accepting any new submissions. This is because we need to proceed with assessment work in order to progress the plan review to meet Government deadlines. See our timetable.

See here for the call for sites form which you should email to planningpolicy@coventry.gov.uk when complete (including a site plan). If you have already sent a site to us you do not need to resubmit, unless you have updated information you wish us to review, in which case this should be clearly stated. Please visit our online portal for more information on the Brownfield Call for Sites process.

Statement of Community Involvement

One of the main principles behind the planning system is community involvement. We encourage the public, local organisations, businesses and others with an interest in the area to take part and have a say in different aspects of planning.

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out the way the Council will involve the local community, stakeholders and statutory bodies in the preparation of new planning policy documents and in consultation on planning applications.
