Planning policy consultations

This page holds a list of current consultations on key strategic planning documents drafted and other policy matters currently being consulted upon by the Planning Policy Team such as Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD) and, when necessary, Local Plan reviews.

When documents are published for consultation, they will be listed here along with the time period in which we are accepting responses.

Current consultations

Brownfield call for sites

Coventry City Council is conducting a call for brownfield sites in order to help identify potential sites that may be able to help meet the city’s development needs (housing, employment, leisure etc). This call for brownfield sites presents interested parties with the opportunity to submit sites that may be suitable. All of the sites submitted will be subjected to a detailed assessment in order to establish their suitability, availability, and achievability in meeting the development needs of Coventry.

This call for brownfield sites will run for a period of 8 weeks, starting 27/11/2023 and ending 22/01/2024. All sites need to be submitted using our online portal. 

Statement of Community Involvement

One of the main principles behind the planning system is community involvement. We encourage the public, local organisations, businesses and others with an interest in the area to take part and have a say in different aspects of planning.

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out the way the Council will involve the local community, stakeholders and statutory bodies in the preparation of new planning policy documents and in consultation on planning applications.
