We replaced the DWP’s discretionary Social Fund system with a scheme called Community Support Grants. These grants are to provide financial help to support people to settle or re-settle in the community

You will have to meet eligibility criteria.

Awards are made at the Council’s discretion. We only have a limited amount of money for Community Support Grants so we may not be able to pay every claim. We will treat all applications on their individual merits, with the overall intention of:

  • Reducing poverty
  • Supporting young people in the transition to adult life
  • Safeguarding residents in their own homes
  • Helping those who are trying to help themselves
  • Keeping families together
  • Supporting the vulnerable in the local community
  • Helping people through personal and difficult events

Please note that we may ask you to provide evidence to support your application.
