Coventry Dementia Partnership Hub the go-to place for people living with Dementia and their carers
A dementia diagnosis can be a shock, but it's the first step towards getting the information, help and support that's needed to manage their symptoms. If dementia is found early, its progress can be slowed down in some cases, so the person may be able to maintain their mental function for longer.
This is why it's important to talk to a GP sooner rather than later if you're worried about memory problems or other symptoms. You may like to suggest you go with your friend or relative to see a GP so you can support them. You'll also be able to help them recall what has been discussed.
In Coventry, there is a bespoke Coventry Dementia Partnership Hub, (or ”Hub” for short) for help, support and guidance. It is located on Everdon Road, Holbrook, Coventry CV6 4DT.
The Coventry Dementia Partnership hub is the go-to place for people living with Dementia and their carers.
It offers lots of support like:
- their dementia-friendly Forget-Me-Not cafe offers a relaxing and safe social space and is open Monday to Friday, 10.30am to 2.30pm for people to purchase hot and cold refreshments, seek advice at the scheduled drop-in advice sessions as advertised and/or meet others
- the Dementia Day Service opens on Thursdays and Fridays only, 10am - 2pm. It’s a safe place to spend the day engaging in your chosen activities, socialising with others and a place where you can get a hot meal.
- they have community outreach support Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, offering 1-to1 support with a person-centred approach to your indoor and outdoor activities for up to 2 hours per day. This might be going for a walk, playing dominoes, or simply having a good old natter
For immediate information on dementia and support, visit Coventry Dementia Partnership Hub.
We want to ensure that everyone can access support and services at the Dementia hub. To help make sure that the hub is tackling the needs of diverse communities, a Culturally Inclusive Subgroup has been set up headed by Lion Shashi Prasad.
It is primarily focused on addressing the barriers preventing people from diverse communities accessing support and services at the Dementia hub.
You are welcome to support the hub in meeting the needs of people from ethnic minority communities. We are particularly keen to hear from people who can speak a second language like Punjabi, Hindi, Gujarati, Urdu, Bengali or Swahili, and/or from a diverse background such as the South Asian, Somalian, Kenyan, Tanzanian or Zanzibar communities.
If you are interested in supporting/get involved in our work, please contact CDPH@coventry.gov.uk.
