Tackling homelessness and housing vulnerability
Performance reflections
Performance has shown improvement and remains on target, reflecting effective prevention activity and early intervention. We work alongside a range of partner agencies to provide housing related support, helping families access the services they need, including commissioning P3 who work closely with families to provide support, including budgeting advice, tenancy readiness, and assistance in accessing services such as education, health, and employment.
Further progress is expected as new council initiatives are embedded, including the recruitment of additional officers dedicated to homelessness prevention, strengthening capacity and proactive support.
There has been a continued improvement in relief outcomes, with performance remaining above target. This reflects the effectiveness of current approaches to securing alternative accommodation, and ongoing service improvements are expected to help sustain and further enhance performance.
Action taken in year
The team has been expanding our prevention offer to residents and continue to build on this in the coming year. New prevention‑focused posts have been introduced to increase capacity and support earlier engagement with households at risk of homelessness.
Additional move on options have been made available by the commissioning of single persons supported accommodation, private rented schemes and also an increase in new build social homes becoming available this year.
