Expanding sustainable energy and zero-carbon technologies

Performance reflections

There are 2 key reasons for the decrease from the previous year in new funding for environmental technologies and management:

  • one is that there were significant announcements for 3 years of sustainability funding through the Integrated Settlement in 2024 to 2025, and we are now in the first year of scoping and delivery
  • secondly, the amount of funding that we are able to bid for on a national competitive level has been reduced as a result of more funding being directed through WMCA.  We expect similar trends to continue in future years

The performance indicator: 'Increased use of renewable energy and heat decarbonisation' was problematic to report on meaningfully as it was completely reliant on 3rd party published data that was rarely consistent and was proven to be inaccurate.

Action taken in year

We will continue to deploy Integrated Settlement funding to enable the retrofitting of social homes and public sector buildings in Coventry and will continue to bid for national funds and work with E.ON to maximise the potential of the Strategic Energy Partnership to secure funding and investment for priority energy and environment projects.
