Outcomes for residents: Job Shop

Job Fest customer case study

Jannat’s journey is a powerful example of resilience, ambition, and the impact of the right support at the right time. Originally from Bangladesh, she moved to the UK 3 and a half years ago with strong academic credentials, including 2 master’s degrees in finance. Despite this, she faced the common challenge of translating her experience into the UK job market.

Jannat’s turning point came in May 2025 after attending Job Fest in Longford, which led her to the Job Shop. There, with tailored guidance from Zoe; including CV development, interview preparation, and access to key opportunities, Jannat built the confidence, skills, and local insight needed to move forward.

Through a combination of mentoring, VR mock interviews, and hands-on volunteering, Jannat rapidly developed her communication skills and workplace confidence. By September 2025, she secured her first UK role as a Learning Support Assistant at Stoke Primary School, where she now makes a meaningful daily impact supporting children’s learning and wellbeing.

Jannat is now being supported to develop her in work skills with an aim to move into teaching. Her journey highlights how targeted support, combined with determination, can unlock potential and lead to sustainable, rewarding employment.
